Ali Almasri is an Arabic type designer and multidisciplinary typographer. In 2021 he launched his own printshop, inspired by Arabic Calligraphy, Japanese ukiyo-e prints, and Iranian/Arabic manuscripts. Some of his prints are hand-made using traditional printmaking techniques such as, Japanese wood block “Mokuhanga” and silkscreen. While other prints are designed and produced digitally using Risography printing, and high quality digital printing.

Inspired by Japanese minimalist aesthetics and their expressive calligraphy, Ali Almasri represents Arabic calligraphy in a contemporary manner while emphasizing its authenticity and tradition.
